Welcome to Sunflower Montessori. We are Luxembourg’s leading Montessori crèche and the first English speaking pre-school centre in the Grand Duchy. Founded in 2001, Sunflower has built a reputation of providing the very best care and education available. Sunflower is committed to the principles of Maria Montessori and to providing a safe, secure and happy environment for your children.

Our dedicated teachers and carers provide activities that will encourage your child to investigate and explore, to gain confidence, independence and language development.

The crèche is located in 2 adjacent buildings near the airport in Findel. We have a very large and well-equipped garden.

The children are separated into eight groups;

Daisies	0 to 1 year
Lilacs	1 to 1 ½ years
Cornflowers	1 ½ to 2 years
Daffodils	2 to 2 ½ years
Orchids	2 ½ to 3 years
Poppies & Tulips	3 to 3 ½ years
Bluebells*	3 ½ to 4 years

* Some of our Bluebells return in the afternoons up to the age of 6 years.

Both baby rooms, Daisies and Lilacs, have a range of stimulating toys in a bright, friendly atmosphere, where parents can be confident that their little ones are safe and well looked after by qualified staff who are caring, loving and nurturing.

We have children of many nationalities at Sunflower. Language and speech are therefore extremely important. The children listen to stories, poetry and take part in singing and plays. They are encouraged to play group games where speech is an important factor.
We start to teach the letter sounds when the children are ready, this can be at a surprisingly early age. The letters are taught phonetically. In the Montessori method Sand Paper Letters are the key tool used when teaching reading and writing. The children move their fingers over the Sand Paper Letters in the natural direction of writing and the shape is thus committed to their muscular memory. Once all of the letters and their sounds are learnt, it is an effortless step to start reading small phonetic words. This method of teaching has worked so well and has been so popular that we run a school on a Saturday to teach English reading and Writing. We have a morning and afternoon class of 11 children.

Sunflower welcomes children with learning and physical disabilities. The environment and teaching method enables these children to gain confidence and flourish at their own pace.
